Nevada was one of 34 states awarded a State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) grant in 2010 by the US Department of Labor. This American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant provides support for workforce development initiatives that enhance Nevada’s green economy.

Nevada’s SESP is shaping tomorrow’s green workforce by:

  • Upgrading and “greenifying” the skills of our existing workforce. Find out more

Our commitment is to provide a comprehensive system of education, training and services that supports skill advancement and career pathway development for Nevada’s workforce. We work together with public agencies, community partners, nonprofit organizations, the education system, and local governments. Our aim is to create a stronger economy through a well-prepared and highly skilled workforce, a cleaner and more sustainable environment, and energy independence for the state of Nevada.

Nevada’s SESP focuses on the following industries:

  • The energy efficicent building, construction, and retrofit industries.
  • The renewable electric power industry.
  • The energy efficient and advanced drive train vehicle industry.
  • The biofuels industry.
  • The deconstruction and materials use industries.
  • The energy assessment industry serving residential, commercial, and/or industrial sectors.
  • Manufacturers that produce sustainable products using environmentally sustainable processes and materials.
